What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a Purchasing and Assets Specialist, under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor. The Purchasing and Assets Specialist processes purchase requests, assists in performing due diligence activities for identifying and selecting vendors and perform physical inventories and its associated documentation. The Purchasing and Asset Specialist role includes the delivery of quality services in the following areas:


  1. Procure goods and services within an office environment in accordance with the quality, quantity and delivery requirement of the requisitioning department, the agency policies and procedures, and governmental procurement guidelines.
  2. Lead and supervise purchasing department staff to perform a wide range of purchasing and related operations services.
  3. Reviews market data to analyze and negotiate prices, evaluate vendors, identify methods of reducing costs, supervision of supply sources, and recommend, when appropriate, changes in products or vendors.
  4. Works closely with the Fiscal department to troubleshoot and resolve problems in the procurement process.
  5. Liaison with the Fiscal department to provide all required support documentation on procurement activities to ensure payments are timely and 100% audit ready.
  6. Ensure that the Capital Asset Tracking system & reporting of assets establishes and enables control of all agency assets from time of purchase through to date of disposal.
  7. On a periodic but not less frequently than annually basis, review functions to promote efficient and effective procurement operations and ensure procurement operations is efficiently being carried out in a manner consistent with agency objectives and best administrative practices.
  8. Prepare and submit budgets, physical inventory results, and related management  reports.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Related work experience may be substituted for college level education.
  • Minimum three (3) years procurement experience with at least one (1) year experience in an environment that adhered to government regulations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in general office/administrative support work experience, in an operations-related position.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience supervising personnel.
  • Involves application of a broad knowledge of procurement management.
  • Must have knowledge of government regulations.
  • Must have knowledge of purchasing and inventory control processes.
  • Must possess above average proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Requires excellent quantitative analysis skills, problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Must have strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Requires use of sound judgment with the ability to prioritize multiple complex projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with diverse groups of people, including senior management
  • Requires the exercise of independent discretion and judgment in determining course of action for specific situations.
  • Requires analytical skills and the ability to solve business problems in an environment with resource constraints and high levels of government regulation.
