Early Head Start - Operations Specialist

Location: South Los Angeles and Compton Area

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking an Operations Specialist under the direction of the Assistant Director, will compile and maintain records concerned with ordering and storing. The Operations Specialist issues and receives shipping materials, supplies and equipment to maintain inventory for all Crystal Stairs Head Start/Early Head Start CCP sites. Responsible for assisting in a variety of warehouse duties, including, unloading and loading trucks, fulfilling purchase orders, and keeping warehouse stocked with essential equipment. The Operations Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Receives, stores, and issues equipment, material, supplies, merchandise, foodstuffs? or tools, and compiles stock records in warehouse
  2. Receives all incoming call and redirects calls accordingly
  3. Provides excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing calls in a professional, courteous and friendly manner
  4. Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external clients, vendors and visitors
  5. Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.
  6. Stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information, such as style, size, or type of material
  7. Fills orders or issues supplies from stock
  8. Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock
  9. Requisitions articles to fill incoming orders or inventory
  10. Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications
  11. Works with various vendors to ensure that site needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  12. Compiles reports on use of stock handling equipment, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusal of shipments.
  13. Maintain inventory and other stock records.
  14. Marks identifying codes, figures, or letters on articles, using labeling equipment.
  15. Distributes stock among staff/sites and keeps records of material issued.
  16. Makes adjustments or repairs to articles carried in stock.
  17. Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
  18. May move or transport materials or supplies to other sites.
  19. Maintains, schedules and documents service records for company vehicles.
  20. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D. is required; some college preferred.
  • One year of direct experience in purchasing or inventory control required, with experience working in a warehouse or an inventory control setting
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Must have strong attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Requires excellent customer relations, excellent phone etiquette skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to use a forklift to move/store inventory.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.

Special Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid California Driver License in good standing with DMV required; current liability insurance
  • Must meet State health requirements to include passing a physical examination as condition of employment, Live Scan, and TB clearance.
