RESOURCE & REFERRAL – COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP COORDINATOR

 Project Duration: November 30, 2017

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a Community Partnership Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the Building Stronger Families in Watts-Willowbrook Initiative.  Coordinates and supervises daily program operations, assures adherence to internal and external policy and procedures and regulatory standards, including the planning and coordination of programmatic objectives and fiscal requirements within and between Crystal Stairs, partner agencies, and funder. The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Work in coordination with the Resource & Referral Program Manager to plan, administer and monitor the project to ensure contract and budget compliance, including development and implementation of the project evaluation.
  2. Assume responsibility for project objectives including planning, organization, assignment of tasks and implementation; resolve related problems; and provide feedback to the Program Manager as appropriate.
  3. Ensure parent recruitment, outreach, participation and leadership development in the Best Start Watts-Willowbrook (BSWW) Initiative.  This includes but is not limited to working with the Parent Engagement Specialist on outreach strategies, leadership trainings and resource development and support.
  4. Work in coordination with key internal and external stakeholders to monitor contract and project resources and expenditures, to include development of organized systems to maintain records to ensure proper documentation, data collection and analysis with regard to partnership activities.
  5. Oversee the timely submission of invoices and required reports to ensure that necessary   records, files, and other materials are maintained for efficient conduct of business and audit requirements.
  6. Establish, develop and maintain partnerships/relationships with public, private and    community organizations to promote children and families accessing community resources that are responsive to their needs.   
  7. Plan, attend, facilitate, partner in and publicize educational and awareness activities and special events aimed at promoting community involvement and social connections among families.  
  8. Attend and participate in regular meetings with Best Start and First 5 LA staff, including the data collection and evaluation team; Best Start Watts-Willowbrook Support Team; BSWW Partnership and committees; and individual partnership members and agencies, as needed.
  9. Participate in team and department staff meetings and professional development activities.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager. 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to Social, Human or Family Services, Early Childhood Education or related field; or a combination of education years experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to successfully meet the demands of the position. Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent and extensive experience in the initiation, implementation and coordination of work in the community and with parents is necessary; strong experience working in diverse communities with a sensitivity to differences in multicultural settings and environments is essential; experience dealing with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening and professional manner.
  • Minimum of 2 years Project management experience required.
  • Must have knowledge of community resources within the Best Start Watts-Willowbrook community
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of social service delivery requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of early education and parental stressors preferred
  • Must have excellent English and Spanish written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills. 
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, self-starter, can do attitude and positive approach;
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and meet set deadlines;
  • Must have the ability to nurture respectful relationships with Partnership members, including Best Start Watts-Willowbrook staff and contractors, community agencies and leaders, and parents and other community stakeholders;
  • Must be sensitive to the cultural needs of all participants in the Best Start process;
  • Must have a high proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Publisher, Word, Excel and Outlook) and knowledge of social media activities required. 
  • Requires the exercise of some independent judgment and discretion in analyzing facts and circumstances and in the determination of actions to be taken within the limits of standard practice.  Involves application of broad knowledge of contract funding terms and CSI policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance. This position is required to commute approximately 50% of the time.
