CLAIMS CLAIMS SUPERVISOR

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a Provider Services Program Supervisor for the Claims Processing Unit who will monitor and oversee the processing of monthly claims submitted by child care providers in compliance with the California Department of Education and LA County Department of Public Social Services, contractual requirements, regulations, and agency policies and procedures. The Claims Supervisor will ensure that processing procedures and controls are being followed by all Claims Processors. The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the receipt, processing, calculation, payment and reporting of monthly claims submitted by providers in compliance with contractual requirements, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
  2. Supervise Claims staff and implement plans to achieve goals, establish priorities and develop best practices, to meet monthly payment export deadlines
  3. Provide telephone assistance and problem resolution to providers as needed.
  4. Conduct Claims Unit monthly meetings, identify and coordinate staff training needs, and administer annual performance appraisals.
  5. Track and monitor problematic customer service concerns for both providers and parents to identify trends or patterns of problematic service issues. Communicate findings to Manager with the goal to address problematic areas through training, system enhancements, and individual performance review.
  6. Participate in department provider workshops/trainings.
  7. Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Requires knowledge of the contract requirements for the California Department of Education (CDE) Early Education and Support Division (EESD) and the LA County Department of Public Social Services CalWORKs Child Care Subsidy Program.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to detect errors, investigate problems, and seek appropriate clarification and resolution.
  • Excellent analytical ability and process development skills.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires excellent customer relations skills, with the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups, including all internal cross-functional units.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a proficiency in Excel.
  • Requires strong analytical skills, including, claims processing analysis, and identification of fraudulent indicators.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and multi-task priorities to meet monthly deadlines. 
  • Makes independent plans and organizes and prioritizes work following established procedures and guidelines. Determines priorities based on ongoing projects.
  • College degree with a focus on Accounting, Business, or Human/Social Services preferred. Relevant, verifiable work experience may be substituted for college level education.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a claims or billing environment; preferably worked with child care providers and parents receiving subsidized child or social support services.
