Head Start & Early Head Start - Lead Teacher Openings

 

Crystal Stairs is one of the largest private non-profit child development corporations in the State of California. We help families locate affordable and appropriate childcare through a variety of services, working with childcare providers, educators, advocates, and community members to positively impact the lives of more than 30,000 children each year.

 

We are looking for dedicated and passionate HS/EHS Lead Teachers prepared to support our overall goal of social competency and school readiness for children 2-5 years old.

 

Candidates must be proficient in lesson planning, and setting of class environments. Our teachers are expected to work together collaboratively with all staff to provide and aid in the social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of our children.

 

Success in this role will rely heavily upon a strong knowledge of classroom evaluation practices (ECERS), assessment tools (DRDP's), program planning and practices in preschool, center-based and/or home based programs; and a clear knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing Regulations.

 

The educational requirement for this position is one of the following:

  1. A Child Development Permit at the Teacher level or above and Associates/Bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education or child development; Experience teaching preschool-age children is a MUST.
  2. Or an Associates/Bachelor's degree in a related field and 24 Early Childhood Education coursework units equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education. Experience teaching preschool-age children is a MUST.

 

The HS/EHS Lead Teacher is required to:

    • Supervise children visually at all times to ensure their continuous safety and care; develop a plan to ensure the safety of the children while they are using indoor and outdoor facilities
    • Design and plan the daily classroom program based on the program curriculum in alignment with the HS/EHS Child Development and Early Learning Framework
    • Evaluate classroom quality using the Early Childhood Education Rating Scale (ECERS) and other assessment tools
    • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical needs of the children, including children with disabilities and special needs
    • Perform home visits on a regular basis
